For almost 30 years, Berlin was a divided city, a unique situation in German history. We start at Brandenburg Gate – a symbol of division and unification.
An impressive guided tour beginning at Memorial Church, a famous landmark of west Berlin, just across from the Bikini House and at the edge of the Tiergarten.

After a short tour of “Kurfürstendamm”, the most famous walking and shopping district in west Berlin, we go on by bus along the “embassy quarter” via the famous concert hall “Philharmonie” to the new center of Berlin since 2000, the “Potsdamer square”. Here, we will learn about the divided city in the past, as well as about the wall between east and west.
We go on by S-Bahn (citytrain) to “Brandenburg gate” in the government-area and the “Holocaustmemorial” created in 2005 in remembrance of the murder of 6 million Jewish people. We continue by bus via the boulevard “Unter den Linden” with its historical buildings and we make a trip to”Friedrichstraße”, the walking and shopping district of east Berlin.
Next is the visit to “Checkpoint Charlie”, a famous checkpoint between the American and the Russian sectors. We continue to “Gendarmenmarket”, a beautiful place with historical buildings, which many people call the nicest place in Berlin. Then we go back to “Unter den Linden” and to the reconstructed “Palace of Berlin”, the 500-year old Palace of the Prussian kings, which was distroyed by the GDR government in 1950.
